We're officially in the heat of Fashion Week! From New York to Paris, and of course Vancouver! I've been asked a few times to do something like this but never found the right opportunity, but here it is: A personal style guide to this season's week with my friend + model Zac!
Keeping our style in mind was obviously very important. When working in fashion, especially as a creative content creator, you're definitely expected to always be looking your very best. If you happen to work in this industry, like Zac and I, you know you're dress code typically calls for black, and a lot of it.
To start off my outfit I grabbed my favorite bomber jacket, having basic outerwear essentials like a bomber will help add a stronger look to your outfit while also being practical as we transition into fall. To top off my look I opted for a large round hat. Summer may have faded, but hats don't have too! Using large accessories such as hats will add more dimension to your look and show off your unique personal style.
Typically, I go for an all black ensemble but I decided to throw in a white piece to round out out my outfit and add balance.
Keeping on trend, I'm wearing a long fit white tee with zipper detailing down the sides. Long fit clothing is not only a huge trend at the moment but the look is also very flattering and will help add length and height to your torso. The zippers or slits on the side also help to prevent your top from looking too fitted or dress-like.
To add more dimension and sheen to my look I went for pleather fitted joggers. While this may be a harder look to pull off it's definitely one worth trying out! Not only will these give you a cutting edge street style look they will also keep you super warm in the fall. I also tossed on a pair black suede boots; these are super worn and beat up which gave my look a more rugged overall vibe.
Finally to put my look all together I added a black leather bag. If you know me, you know I always have a million and one different things that I need to have on my person at all times. Those things all get chucked into this bag right here! Not only are bags super practical they also add a chic and personal element to your style depending on what you go for. I typically go for a satchel/briefcase type of bag. However, feel free to experiment with different shapes, sizes and colors!
Zac's style has a very relaxed street look to it. Still keeping black in mind Zac started off his look with a tee-hoodie with pleather detailing on the shoulders. The sleeves give your classic hoodie a new look with a stronger element that will prevent Zac from looking too flat. The sleeves add a sheen to this essential black top while giving dimension and personality to the over all look.
Also keeping fall in mind, Zac tied a bomber cardigan around his waist. While being practical for the weather this piece has also been a trending look. Adding tops as accents around the waist help add flow to your walk and can turn a simple flat outfit into something more chic and street wear. To keep up with Zac's relaxed style, he wore a pair of essential black skinny jeans.
Topping off Zac's look, he tossed on this over sized forest green parka. Bulky clothing can really help bring in dimension to your wardrobe and add variety. Choosing dark colors will also help you from looking too flat and blacked out, using leather or reflective pieces will help with that as well!
There's our guide to this Season's fashion week. See you at FW 2016 xx
